WHO WE ARE

Welcome to Empowerment Nexus Alliance (ENA)

At Empowerment Nexus Alliance (ENA), we are a dedicated community-based organization in Mombasa County, Kenya, committed to fostering a healthier, more resilient society. Registered under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, we tackle pressing issues through four key pillars: Mental Health, Sexual Health, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Environmental Conservation.

Our mission is to drive positive change by empowering individuals and communities with knowledge, support, and resources to build a sustainable, healthier future. With mental health as our core focus, we believe that every aspect of well-being is interconnected. From breaking the silence on mental health issues and advocating for safe sexual practices, to addressing gender-based violence—especially towards men—and preserving our natural environment, each pillar represents a vital part of our vision.

Our Goals

At Empowerment Nexus Alliance (ENA), we are driven by a vision of empowerment, resilience, and sustainability for all. Guided by our four core pillars, we aim to:

  1. Promote Mental Wellness
    • Reduce stigma surrounding mental health by fostering open conversations and offering accessible support services, including counseling and awareness campaigns.
    • Empower individuals with tools and resources to manage stress, anxiety, and depression, leading to a healthier, more resilient community.
  2. Advance Sexual Health Awareness
    • Educate communities on safe sexual practices, prevention of STIs, and management of sexual health through reliable information and resources.
    • Partner with health organizations to expand access to HIV testing, treatment, and preventive care for informed and empowered health choices.
  3. Address Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with a Focus on Male Survivors
    • Provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for men affected by violence to share their experiences and access support, challenging societal norms around gender and victimhood.
    • Raise awareness about GBV, advocating for prevention and support programs that encompass all genders and encourage a safer, more inclusive society.
  4. Champion Environmental Conservation
    • Engage communities in environmental protection, focusing on both marine and terrestrial ecosystems to preserve natural resources for future generations.
    • Implement sustainable practices and educational initiatives to promote environmental stewardship and drive community involvement in conservation efforts.

ENA has experience in managing community projects on mental health, SRH, GBV, and environmental conservation. In 2023, we ran a Mental Health and GBV Awareness Campaign. Through workshops and counseling, 120 individuals received support, breaking stigma and encouraging conversations on mental health and GBV. Additionally, we contributed to the crafting of the Mental Health Standard Operating Procedures, the Mental Health Framework 2024-2034, and the Workplace Mental Wellness Policy 2024-2034 for the County Government of Mombasa. This experience equips us to manage similar projects effectively
